May Day URAP Research Roundtable & Reception

Please join us in celebrating our Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program on Thursday, May 1, 5:30-7:30pm, at the Oakes College Provost House.

April 19, 2014

This past Winter Quarter, 24 Undergraduate Research Apprentices helped organize and conduct a survey of low-wage workers in Santa Cruz as part of a joint research project of the Chicano Latino Research Center, Center for Labor Studies, and California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc.  These busy, budding researchers completed over 170 surveys!  The University of California Humanities Research Institute has awarded the CLRC and our partners an Engaging Humanities Public Humanities Project Grant for 2014-15 so we can continue to study and shed light on labor in our community.

On Thursday, May 1, we'll celebrate the success and promise of this collaborative endeavor.  Above all, we'll recognize the labor and achievements of CLRC GSR and URAP coordinator Ruben Espinoza and the undergraduates who helped make it possible.  They'll present some of their preliminary findings from the survey starting at 5:30pm at the Oakes College Provost House.  A reception with refreshments will follow.

This free, public event is co-sponsored by the Chicano Latino Research Center, the Center for Labor Studies, Oakes College, and the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
